Crash Near Newport, MC Pauses J&J Vaccine, 2nd Busy Bee

In today's Marietta Morning we examine a car crash that injured three, Marietta College vaccines, and a second Busy Bee location now open.

MARIETTA, OH — Happy Thursday Marietta. There are a lot of things going on today. We have a city council meeting this evening and a county commissioners meeting this morning. But before we get to all that, here are some stories we think are interesting.

Three people injured in crash near Newport: Dennis Bright of WTAP reports that three people were taken to the hospital on Wednesday evening after a crash on State Route 7. State troopers say a car was rear-ended and pushed into the path of a pickup truck. No one involved has been identified, but one citation was issued. Everyone involved is expected to survive.

Marietta College pauses the Johnson & Johnson vaccine: Jacob Krantz of WMOA reports the Marietta College is temporarily halting the distribution of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. The CDC and FDA are reviewing rare and severe blood clots in people who got the shot. Marietta College is still assisting students and staff who want to get the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.

The Busy Bee has opened a second location: Sarah Cooke of WTAP reports that the popular Marietta restaurant, The Busy Bee, opened up its second location out in Reno. Their new location at the Reno Business Park is open to the public and seats up to 150 people. The owner says they just opened up last week and business is good.

Ohio University is facing budget cuts: David Forster with WOUB reports that OU expects to end its fiscal year with a nearly $15,000,000 surplus. Still, they're anticipating annual deficits of tens of millions of dollars in the coming years. They've made some sizeable academic cuts so far, and they might have to make sizeable administrative cuts too.
