Marietta College football dominates: Yesterday Marietta College beat Wilmington College 34-7. The two teams faced off at Don Drumm Stadium for their final game of the spring football season. The Pioneers finish with a 3-2 record overall, and Wilmington falls to 2-3. Marietta will open their 2021 fall season on the road at the University of Dubuque in September.

Seevers sentenced for crimes against a child: Janelle Patterson of The Marietta Times reports that yesterday, 23-year-old Lyrisha Seevers was sentenced to 9 months in prison. She and her husband had initially been charged with the rape of a 6-year-old, but she pleaded guilty to an amended charge of felony attempted gross sexual imposition. Seevers is now a registered sex offender and will serve her sentence in the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville.
I-77 resurfacing project: Brett Wharff of WMOA reports that ODOT will be closing the passing lane of I-77 North between exits 6 and 16. This is for a resurfacing and concrete joint repair project that's expected to be done by August 1. Another similar project will kick off on Monday between exits 1 and 6. This will shut down a lane northbound and southbound. The completion date for this one is estimated for June 4.

Excavator burns in Washington County: Zach Shrivers of WTAP reports that Reno firefighters responded to a report of a piece of equipment on fire Friday afternoon. They found the excavator ablaze at Mondo Polymer on State Route 7 and put it out. Fire officials aren't sure what caused the fire, but there don't appear to be any injuries.
