Marietta College used to have compulsory chapel attendance. This annoyed many college students. One time in the 1920s a group of college juniors rearranged the school chapel to look like a barnyard, complete with bales of hay and other props. The administration threatened to expel the entire class unless they paid restitution and signed an honor pledge.

-The Marietta Welfare League will be hosting Music in the Park. It's a free event that kicks off at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 10. Details here.
-Cleanup Days will be held on Friday, June 11, and Saturday, June 12. This is an event paid for with taxpayer funds for any city resident looking to clear trash or junk out of their place. Details here.
- Marietta Main Street: Second Sunday. Join us in downtown Marietta during the Second Sunday of June, July, and August for great food, great shops, great music, and great fun for the whole family.
- The Washington County Sheriff's Office will be holding a firearm and miscellaneous item auction on Saturday, June 12. Details here.
