1. Toledo Zoo welcomes lanky (but cute) new Bactrian camel calf (wtol.com) — Toledo Zoo has welcomed a new male Bactrian camel calf, born August 23 and now bonding with keepers behind the scenes. While he isn't on public view yet, the zoo is sharing updates as he grows into the Africa! exhibit herd along the Anthony Wayne Trail.
   

2. Tom Strain, 1939-2026: Longtime farmer known for his love and loyalty (toledoblade.com) — Toledo is mourning longtime farmer and business owner Tom Strain, the fourth-generation owner of Tom Strain & Sons and Daughter Too, who died Sept. 14 at age 87. His family and employees remember him for expanding the Toledo farm and greenhouse into a beloved produce market and holiday destination, and for treating workers like family while supporting them through life's hardest moments.
   

3. Police investigating after another Flock camera vandalized in west Toledo (wtol.com) — Toledo police are investigating yet another vandalized Flock surveillance camera, this time at Dorr Street and Flaire Drive in west Toledo, adding to at least six damaged cameras across the city in recent months. With more than 100 license-plate readers in use and about 350 tracked in the metro area, city council has now requested a formal audit of the Flock system.
   

4. People from all over are flocking to northwest Ohio for the fall migration (13abc.com) — Northwest Ohio, including Metroparks in the Toledo area plus Magee Marsh and Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, is in peak fall bird migration season, drawing birdwatchers from around the country. Experts say more birds pass through now than in spring, and locals can help by reducing nighttime lights and making windows safer while enjoying active wildlife all autumn.
   

5. Richter throws 3 TD passes, 2 long to Hammer, Toledo dominates San Diego State 41-16. (wtop.com) — University of Toledo football fans saw a big home win as John Alan Richter threw three touchdown passes and the Rockets dominated San Diego State 41-16 in Toledo. With nearly 500 yards of offense and a pick-six by Isaac Zay, Toledo moved to 3-1 and now heads to Ball State to open MAC play.
