Herb Jansen served as an Army infantryman in Vietnam in 1968, the deadliest year of the Vietnam war and a tumultuous year in the U. S. A box full of letters he wrote home to his parents from Vietnam was a timeline and framework for his memoir. He added the stories he didn’t include in his letters because he didn’t want his parents to worry. Herb will talk about his experience in Vietnam and about the men he served with, young and honorable men asked by their country to defend democracy, who did the best they could.
