• Learn By Doing: Connecting Through Adventure (oregonstate.edu) — New and transfer students in Corvallis can sign up now for OSU's "Learn by Doing" adventures, which run from September 18 through November 4 and focus on building connections at the university's Challenge Course. Participants choose their own level of challenge, enjoy outdoor team activities, and share a meal with fellow Beavers after the program.
   

• Benton County Sheriff Deputy Sued for Excessive Force, Death of Frail 75-Year-Old (corvallisadvocate.com) — A Benton County sheriff's deputy is being sued for $3.85 million after a frail 75-year-old Alsea man died days after a forceful arrest, in a case closely watched by Corvallis-area residents. The lawsuit alleges the deputy's takedown during a burn-ban dispute caused fatal internal injuries, raising fresh questions about how local law enforcement handles elderly and medically fragile people.
