Some - such as those representing Ammon Bundy - want the trial to start as soon as possible.
Others have argued that they need more time, even telling the judge their clients were willing to waive their right to a speedy trial.

It was during the discussion of setting the trial date that one defendant almost got thrown out of court.
Jason Patrick spoke out several times, talking over the conversation, prompting Judge Brown to be quiet.
"Will there be any more violent outbursts by the judge," he said.
The judge allowed him to stay in the courtroom as along as he remained quiet.
The decision to set a trial date came in the case's monthly status hearing where a variety of issues are discussed and decided.
Judge Brown upheld a decision to send Bundy, his brother Ryan and two other defendants - Brian Cavalier and Ryan Payne - to Nevada where they will be arraigned on an indictment related to the 2014 armed standoff with federal officers at the ranch of Cliven Bundy, the father of Ammon and Ryan.
They will be arranged there on April 13 and then returned to Oregon.
Two other defendants, Pete Santilli and Joseph O'Shaugnessy, are also charged in both states and are already in Nevada.
Ryan Bundy, who is representing himself, told the judge that he is having trouble with a variety of issues ranging from simple things like getting pencils to more complex issues like getting access to discovery materials.
The judge said that while she was sympathetic,, she had made it clear to him there would be challenges with representing himself.
As for discovery, defense lawyers told the judge that they felt prosecutors were not working fast enough to turn materials over.
Prosecutors countered that that they are moving as fast as they can to turn over discovery materials to the defense lawyers and have already turned over more than 48,000 files.
The judge also said she would have a hearing at a later date on a motion by Ammon's lawyers concerning being able to use social media to investigate their case.
