According to a Dec. 22 letter written by Abington School District Superintendent Amy Sichel, Abington Junior High School Principal Lorraine Trollinger “has elected to resign” and will not be returning to the school district.
The district appointed Mark Pellico as the school's interim principal.

“I am pleased that Dr. Pellico has accepted this interim position, for he has a wealth of knowledge as well as an ongoing commitment to the Abington School District,” Sichel wrote in the letter addressed to Abington Junior High School parents and guardians.
Pellico has been with the school district for more than 20 years and was formerly the chairman of the guidance department at the junior high school. Most recently he was the supervisor of pupil services with K-12 responsibilities.

The school's website currently lists Pellico as the school's "acting principal."
Prior to her position at the junior high school, Trollinger was employed with the Jenkintown School District.
