School Starts — A World Away

Abington Friends has some new students.

The Abington Friends School community recently welcomed 13 international students in grades 9 through 12. These newest members of the school’s student body are natives of China and come to AFS through Ivy International. The students reside at The Plaza Apartments in Jenkintown, where they live under the guidance of Anthony Cestare and Maggie Dziopko who are employed by Ivy International and serve as their parents in absentia.

Thirty-five prospective students sought the 13 available slots at AFS.

According to Bill Newman, Director of Admission and Tuition Assistance at AFS, the students were attracted to the deep, comprehensive nature of the school’s curriculum.
