City Avenue In Lower Merion To Have Lane Restrictions Next Week
Patch has all the details you need to avoid being stuck in traffic next week.

PennDOT announced this week that U.S. Route 1, that's City Avenue, in Lower Merion Township will be restricted daily next week due to various safety improvement work.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning Monday, Jan. 23 through Friday, Jan. 27, PennDOT contractor Armour & Sons Electric Inc. will be working to install traffic signal upgrades and curb ramp installations related to a federally-funded, $2.9 million safety improvement project. The construction schedule is dependent on weather, PennDOT said.
City Avenue will have right lane closures on northbound and southbound travel lanes, PennDOT said.

The work will affect City Avenue between Wynnewood Road and 59th Street/Raynham Road in Philadelphia and Lower Merion, PennDOT said.
The work is part of a major project aimed at improving travel and safety along the three-mile stretch of City Avenue between Interstate 76 and Us. Route 30/Lancaster Avenue. This major project is expected to be completed in November this year, PennDOT said.

Armour & Sons Electric Inc. will be upgrading and fully modernizing 17 signaled intersections along City Avenue with a new wireless communication system to ensure a better traffic flow. Not only will the new communication system be in place, the work will also install new pedestrian push buttons, traffic signal heads, pavement markings, overhead street signs, and 74 new Americans With Disabilities Act curb ramps, PennDOT said.
Other improvement related to the project include adding a new left turn lane at Cardinal Avenue.
Motorists traveling in this area should plan for extra time when driving in the work area or consider alternate routes.
