Community Dialogue Event In Lower Merion Postponed

The LGBTQ issue-focused event will be held in April, the township announced.

Lower Merion's Human Relations Commission has rescheduled the first Community Dialogue session planned for Tuesday, March 14.

The event will now be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18 in the Board Room of the Lower Merion Township Building at 75 E. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore.

The session – which is the first in a series – will focus on LGBTQ provisions of the ordinance, provide a chance for the community to hear about LGBTQ experiences from residents and employees in the area, discuss the LGBTQ community's needs, and how to protect the LGBTQ community's rights, the township said.

The session is open to all LGBTQ community members, family, friends and allies who live or work in Lower Merion, the township said.

"Lower Merion Township’s Anti-Discrimination Ordinance prohibits discrimination against those who live in, work in, or visit Lower Merion Township." the township said. "The Township Human Relations Commission was created to enforce this Ordinance and is actively engaged in community education efforts to inform the community about the protections afforded by the Ordinance. No one can be discriminated on the basis of race, color, religion, ancestry, age, sex, national origin,disability, use of guide or support animals, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression in employment, housing, and public accommodation."
