Power Outage Hits Hundreds Of Lower Merion PECO Customers

PECO said crews will have to pump water from manholes to fix underground equipment that caused the outage.

About 500 PECO customers were without power Tuesday afternoon after an outage hit the area at about 1 p.m., PECO said.

As of 2:45 p.m., only about 170 customers remained without power, PECO said.

Many of the affected area is in Ardmore, around Ardmore, Lancaster, and Montgomery avenues, according to PECO

PECO spokesman Greg Smore said crews are onsite attempting to reroute power to the remaining affected customers.

Smore said the outage was likely due to an underground equipment failure and said crews will have to pump water from Tuesday's heavy rain out of manholes to investigate and make repairs.
