Lower Merion Seeing Nearly $1M In Water Main Improvements

The work is part of a $1.9 million initiative to improve water service in Montgomery County, Aqua PA said.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA – Lower Merion Township is getting nearly $1 million in water main improvements, according to Aqua PA.

The water company said the township is seeing $979,000 worth of water main improvements as part of $1.9 million worth of projects in Montgomery County.

In the township, crews are working to replace existing 6- and 8-inch cast iron and cement main with 3,579 feet of new ductile iron main, Aqua said.

With project completion expected in the spring of 2018, the work is taking place on North Ithan Avenue between Pond Lane and Morris Avenue and on Lafayette Road near the intersection of Morris Avenue.

This project will increase service reliability, reduce the potential for discolored water and improve firefighting capabilities in the area, Aqua said.
