Pierce allegedly gave a phone number associated with an account he said was his, then took a phone call while a store employee was working, the Times reports.

The employee noticed the phone Pierce used was not listed on the account he provided, leading the store manager to call the number Pierce provided.

A Maryland man answered the call, saying he was not trying to upgrade his phone, the Times reports.
