One Dead In Hit And Run Near Saint Joseph's University: Police
The victim, 58-year-old Anthony Rodgers, is the second person to be hit by a vehicle while crossing City Avenue this month.

A 58-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night as he was crossing City Avenue near St. Joseph's University, making it the second time a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in that area this month.
According to Philadelphia Police, the fatal hit and run occurred at about 10:02 p.m. at 54th Street and City Avenue, just outside Lower Merion Township.
When police arrived on scene after receiving reports of a pedestrian involved vehicle accident, officers found the victim, Anthony Rodgers, 58, of the 5600 block of Woodcrest Avenue, lying unconscious in the road, police said.

He was rushed to Lankenau Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m., according to police.
The vehicle that struck the Rodgers was heading north on City Avenue and struck him as he was crossing at the intersection of City Ave and 54th Street, police said.

The vehicle fled the scene in an unknown direction but authorities later found the vehicle on the 4600 block of North 19th Street, police said. No arrests have been made, however.
The Philadelphia Police Department's Accident Investigation Division is working to determine what exactly happened.
On Dec. 13, a 20-year-old St. Joseph's student was struck by a vehicle while crossing City Avenue.
That driver was later charged with DUI, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, and related crimes.
