St. Margaret School welcomes new families and returning students September, 2016

September, 2016 -- St. Margaret School brings excitement as the doors open this year, yet again with a good enrollment and our new lay principal, Mary Anne Johnston, to lead the previously driven Mercy school. The enrollment of 309 welcomes several new families from the local area to the returning community. This little gem for Catholic education in Lower Merion continues to bring outstanding academic programs, diverse extracurricular programs, and service opportunities together and inclusive of faith-based education for the children while bringing students differentiated instruction to achieve lifelong goals fulfilling our mission.

The 2016-17 school year is off to a wonderful start. This year, we welcomed 32 new students in kindergarten to 7th grade to St. Margaret School in addition to our 31 students to our prekindergarten four year old program. We currently have two Pre-K classes, two Kindergarten classes, two 1st grade classes and two 3rd grade classes. Much of our sustained advancement is due to our dedicated teachers and staff, who work diligently to provide the best Catholic education possible. SMS welcomed another exceptional educator this year to contribute to their efforts. .

St. Margaret welcomes several new faculty members this year: Mary Anne Johnston, Principal and Maureen Arata, 5th grade teacher with a BA in Education from Immaculata previously teaching pre-kindergarten in Frazer. Several existing faculty members have moved into new positions for this academic year: Emily Mulhern moved to 3rd grade, Donna Magee has returned as a full time assistant for 4th, 5th and 6th grades and Kellie Walters will be teaching Gym for grades 2 to 8 in addition to Technology for 2016-17.
