NBC 10's LuAnn Cahn to emcee 5th Annual Sproutfest

Sproutfest - A Community Pet Adoption Event

NBC 10’s LuAnn Cahn and the 95.7 BEN-FM Party Patrol will kick off the 5th Annual Sproutfest on Sunday, October 12th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Upper Merion Township Building Park (175 West Valley Forge Road) in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

Sproutfest is a community pet adoption event sponsored by Finding Shelter Animal Rescue, a no-kill, all-volunteer organization, and the Upper Merion Township Park and Recreation Department. Two dozen rescues and shelters are already signed up to attend, giving potential adopters the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about rescue and meet many adoptable pets all in one place. Cahn is no stranger to Finding Shelter, having adopted a dog from the rescue several years ago. The 95.7 BEN FM Party Patrol will provide music and prizes. The event also includes vendors, food and more.

This year’s Sproutfest will honor the filmmakers of the upcoming documentary Dog By Dog, which exposes the horrors of America’s puppy mills, uncovering what keeps them in business. Grace Kelly Herbert, Founder and President of Finding Shelter Animal Rescue, says, “Dog By Dog is going to change the way people look at the commercial dog breeding business. It’s a game changer.”

Some of Sproutfest’s attending rescues, shelters, and non-profits are: Operation Ava, Chester County SPCA, TWAIN, Senior Dog Haven and Hospice, Mid-Atlantic Jack Rescue, GRAPE Rescue, Blind Dog Rescue Alliance, Forever Home Animal Rescue, Mostly Muttz Rescue, The Grannie Project, Northern Exposure Siberian Husky Rescue, Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County, Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue, To Love a Canine, Inc., Street Tails Animal Rescue, Pets of the Homeless, Harley’s Haven, Kitty Cottage Adoption Center and PAWSibilities Rescue. There will even be a Pit Bull Kissing Booth!

Finding Shelter Animal Rescue began on January 1, 2010 as a no-kill rescue for dogs and cats. The organization was inspired by Sprout, a blind Chihuahua, who was abandoned on the side of the road in November of 2009. He was sick and afraid, and was expected to live for only a few weeks. But Sprout had quite a bit of fight in him and lived for nearly three more years before losing his battle with hydrocephalus. Sprout continues to be Finding Shelter’s inspiration, and they honor and celebrate his life each year with the tradition of Sproutfest.
