Former corporate employee turned internationally recognized graffiti artist, #1 best-selling business author and dynamic speaker Erik Wahl to provide interactive keynote presentation
March 10, 2015 (Philadelphia) – The Philadelphia chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (Philly SHRM) will host its annual Philly SHRM Symposium April 1-2, 2015 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel. The symposium will feature a pre-conference event on Wednesday, April 1 to discuss innovation as a business strategy with renowned speakers Dr. Michael Brenner, founder and president of Right Chord Leadership, and Natalie Nixon, PhD, professor and director at Philadelphia University, and will be followed by a full day of panels and speakers on Thursday, April 2, including an interactive keynote presentation from former corporate employee turned internationally-recognized graffiti artist, #1 best-selling business author and dynamic speaker Erik Wahl.
“This year’s symposium will build upon the strength of our past events, and is anticipated to be the largest and most highly-attended event of its kind in our region,” said Gloria Sinclair Miller, GPHR, SHRM-SCP, Philly SHRM President. “Our panels are designed to expose attendees to many of the most important trends presently affecting our industry both nationally and regionally, as well as to provide an opportunity for business leaders and HR professionals to come together and share ideas.”
This year’s keynote address will bring a fresh, new perspective to the typical conference keynote presentation, as Wahl will use a mix of live art and messaging to demonstrate to the audience exactly how to step outside of convention and discover new and unexpected solutions to business challenges.
“It’s about pushing new thoughts to the limit, getting outside of the proverbial comfort zone and creating breakthroughs,” said Wahl. “If you want to grow your business, you must grow your people. You need to let go of preconceived notions and paradigms for traditional hiring, training and retention programs to achieve new levels of employee optimization.”
The symposium is designed for HR and business professionals in all industries and at all skill levels. Attendees will not only have the opportunity to hear some of the industry’s leading
professionals speak, and network with some the area’s top business leaders and HR professionals, but they will also receive 8.25 Business HRCI Credits and 8.25 SHRM Professional Development Credits.
Scheduled panel discussions include: “Regional Workforce Trends,” “Leveraging Data To Support Your Business Case,” “Legal Trends for the Business Leader,” “Building Your Long-Term Benefits Strategy,” “Establishing Strong Cultural Leadership to Retain Top Talent,” and more.
The O’Connor Group, Temple University and Trion are the principal sponsors for the symposium, and associate sponsors include: Emerson Group, Saint Joseph’s University, BDO, Peirce College, Carebridge, La Salle University, Alliant Credit Union, eXude, Inc., DoubleStar, Pentra, Conner, Strong & Buckelew, The Graham Company, Fleet Walker, XAct Check, Monarch Staffing, Waterless Works, AnnieMac Home Mortgage, Silk Road, U.S. Bureau of Labor & Statistics, PENN Behavioral Health Corporate Services, Colonial Life, Joseph P.
