Poetry, Genocide and Healing: an evening with Gregory Djanikian

Poet and Director of Creative Writing at UPenn will read poetry relating to the Armenian Genocide. Free and open to the public.

When: Wed., Feb. 25 from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Where: Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, 625 Montgomery Ave., Bryn Mawr, PA 19010 - Witherspoon Parlor

Gregory Djanikian, Director of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Pennsylvania and author of six published collections of poetry, will present “Poetry, Genocide and Healing.” He will invite us to understand poetry as an invitation to explore the inner space of healing. Greg will provide an introduction to the Armenian genocide on the cusp of the 100th anniversary and read from So I Will Till the Ground, his collection of poems about the genocide and its aftermath. For the Armenian people, restorative justice is illusive but whatever the injustice, it is in the inner landscape that each of us is invited to heal.
