Registration open for GSK Science in the Summer!

GSK Science in the Summer™ brings fun, free, hands-on STEM program to Philadelphia area elementary students

Registration for the GSK Science in the Summer™ program is now open! Parents and guardians can sign-up their elementary-aged children for this free, educational program, which is sponsored by GSK [LSE/NYSE: GSK] and administered by The Franklin Institute.

For the first time, registration for GSK Science in the Summer in the Greater Philadelphia Area is online! To register, parents/guardians must have a valid email address, which they can create for free through a variety of websites, such as Gmail or Yahoo Mail. Use your home computer or visit your local library to use the public computers to complete the online registration. Registrations will be processed in the order they are received.

GSK Science in the Summer, which is celebrating its 29th year in the Greater Philadelphia Area, offers weeklong summer science courses for students entering second through sixth grade. Courses are divided into two levels, I and II, based on age. Participating students will experience the wonders of science through courses on Bioscience (Bucks County), Simple Machines (Chester County), Chemistry (Delaware County), Oceanography (Montgomery County) and Physical Science/Electricity (Philadelphia County).

Courses will be held at local libraries in the five county Philadelphia area. Through these free science courses, GSK Science in the Summer strives to equalize educational opportunities and hopes to mitigate the effects of summer learning loss. It also seeks to encourage elementary students to get involved in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning, and encourages community involvement at local libraries.
