Delco Man Shoots Parents, Killing Father: Reports

Matthew Hox is facing murder, homicide, and related charges after allegedly shooting his parents, killing his father, Thursday in Delco.

A Delaware County man is accused of shooting his parents and killing his father Thursday night in Tinicum Township.

Action News reports police took 31-year-old Matthew Hox, of Lester, into custody at about 3 a.m. Friday after he allegedly shot his parents in their Tinicum home then fled the home, launching a search for him.

Hox is charged with first- and third-degree murder, homicide, aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime, and recklessly endangering another person, court records show.

He was held without bail after his preliminary arraignment Friday morning, according to court records.

Neighbors called police after hearing gunshots in the Tinicum Township home of Henry Hox, 77, and Donna Hox, 62, the suspect's parents, Thursday night, according to the outlet.

The neighbor found Henry Hox dead and Donna Hox injured, begging for 911 to be called.

NBC10 reports a manhunt then was underway in the county, prompting authorities to issue a shelter in place warning.

Matthew Hox was arrested in a wooded area near his home in connection with the shooting.

According to NBC10, the shooting stemmed from a family argument.

Fox29 reports police found the gun used in the shooting.

Donna Hox was taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center where she is recovering from her injuries.

Court records show Matthew Hox has yet to be formally charged as of 9 a.m. Friday.

This marks another recent instance of an adult child killing their parents. Robert Coult III was recently charged with killing his father in Yeadon and dumping the body on the Main Line, and Bruce Rogal killed his two parents in a Chester County retirement home before killing himself.

Matthew Hox is slated for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 15, accorindg to court documents.
