Saturday, September 12: Auditions for VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE at Old Academy Players!

On Saturday, September 12, at 1 pm auditions will be held for Christopher Durang’s hilarious comedy, VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE, at Old Academy Players [www.oldacademyplayers.org], 3544 Indian Queen Lane, Philadelphia (East Falls), PA.

The Director seeks 2 men and 4 women for this January 2016 production. Performance dates are January 8th through 24th. The Director is seeking strong comic actors for all roles.

Characters are:
VANYA - 50’s, living in Bucks County. Resigned to his life, more or less, at least compared to Sonia.

SONIA - His adopted sister, early 50’s, living with him in Bucks County. Discontent, moody, regretful. Must be able to do a “Maggie Smith” accent - that is, British upper-crust, a little nasal. She will be asked to demonstrate this in the audition.

MASHA - His sister, 50’s, a glamorous, narcissistic and successful actress who goes gallivanting around the world.

SPIKE - An aspiring actor, 29 or younger, sexy, self-absorbed. Masha’s new companion. Any ethnicity. In great shape, and comfortable showing off his body, and appearing in his underwear on stage.

NINA - Lovely, sincere would-be actress, early 20’s, visiting her aunt and uncle next door. Starstruck and energetic.

CASSANDRA - Cleaning lady and soothsayer, any age, any ethnicity. Has a strong sense of the dramatic style of Greek tragedy.
