• PA Turnpike Breezewood project is latest effort to eliminate toll booths (wtaj.com) — Drivers in Bedford County should watch for big changes coming to the Breezewood interchange, as the PA Turnpike plans a redesign that removes toll booths and adds cashless Open Road Tolling by 2027. The project aims to improve safety, ease congestion, and keep local access to Route 30 while creating a more direct connection to I-70 and supporting Breezewood’s revitalization.
   

• Parents charged after child fell 20 feet from Blue Knob ski lift chair (wtaj.com) — Bedford County prosecutors have charged two State College parents with felony child endangerment after their 5-year-old son fell about 20 feet from a Blue Knob ski lift in March. The boy has since recovered, and the First Assistant District Attorney says the office is focused on protecting children while the case moves through preliminary hearings.
   

• Feds cut rural health funding; Pennsylvania to receive $193M (wtaj.com) — Bedford County is among several rural Pennsylvania counties slated to share in $193 million in new federal rural health funding, aimed at shoring up strained services. State officials plan to use the money for mobile health units, telehealth expansion, and staffing support, especially for maternal care, veterans, and people with chronic or behavioral health needs, though some experts worry the funding won’t fully offset recent cuts.
