Arrest Made In Mt. Airy Dunkin Donuts Robbery

An anonymous tip led to one suspect's arrest. The other suspect is still at large.

Philadelphia Police announced the arrest of one of the suspects accused of robbing a Mt. Airy Dunkin Donuts location in early March.

According to police, an anonymous tip led officers to identify one suspect as Gene Williams, 53, of the 700 block of East Phil Ellena Street.

Police obtained a warrant for Williams arrest and on March 10 officers executed the warrant at Williams' home.

Williams was located and arrested without incident, police said.

Williams has since been charged with robbery and related offenses in connection with the March 4 robbery at Stenton Avenue Dunkin Donuts.

During the incident, a black male entered the store and placed an order, handing the 18-year-old female employee cash.

During the transaction, another black male, allegedly Williams, entered the store, according to police.

When the employee was completing the transaction the sale and opened the cash register, the first suspect reached over and grabbed the register drawer attempting to remove it from the register, police said.

After a brief struggle with the suspect, he took the cash register drawer containing approximately $150 then fled on foot and was last seen in the parking lot of the business where the cash drawer was dropped and left behind, police said.

Police said no on was injured in the incident.

The other suspect is described as a black male, 6 feet tall, between 30 and 40 years old with a medium to large build, a dark complexion, and clean shaven face. He was wearing a colored waist length hooded jacket, a tan ski hat, timberland style boots,and blue jeans.

Police said the public should not approach the suspect and should call 911 immediately if he is spotted.
