PHILADELPHIA – A dog was found stabbed and left for dead near the Fern Rock Train Station in North Philadelphia on Monday, March 5. And now the Pennsylvania SPCA is offering a $1,700 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

The dog is a young female pit bull-type breed and has been named Woobie after she was found by a good samaritan who was walking their dog at about 7:45 a.m. Monday near the station , the PSPCA said.

Woobie is in stable condition at Penn Vet’s Ryan Hospital where she is being cared for as part of the Penn Vet Shelter Medicine's Richard Lichter Charity for Dogs Program, according to the PSPCA.

She had multiple stab wounds on her rib cage, trauma to her lungs, and possible internal bleeding.

"The details of what happened to Woobie are still being revealed. We know that there are people out there who know this dog," Nicole Wilson, PSPCA Director of Humane Law Enforcement, said. "Cases like this don’t usually stop with one victim unless someone steps up and says something. We know you are out there. You saw something; now say something."

The PSPCA is asking for the help of anyone who may know Woobie, have information about her owner, or who may have witnessed her being dumped near the station.

Anyone with information in this case should call the Pennsylvania SPCA’s Cruelty Hotline at (866) 601-7722. Tips can be left anonymously.

The $1,700 reward is being provided by two donors who wish to remain anonymous, the PSPCA said.
