Philadelphia, PA March 26, 2014 — Inquiry Theatre
presents "Goodbye to All That!", an Ethnodrama by Charles Vanover,
featuring performances by Alexandra Miletta, Brandi Weekley, Vasey Coman and an electronic score created by Andrew Babson, on Saturday
April 5, 2014 at 8:30 PM at Asian Arts Initiative, 1219 Vine Street,
Philadelphia. Admission is $15, $10 for teachers, students and
seniors.
"Goodbye to All That!" is a unique,
verbatim play about teaching in the Chicago Public Schools. The ethnodrama
shares the story of an accomplished, National Board Certified teacher’s last
year in the system. The play shares
stories of the relationships she created with the Mexican immigrants in her
high poverty school and the lessons she was proud to teach. Opportunities for dialogue and interaction
are structured throughout the performance. Attendees will be encouraged to
order dinner from one of two local restaurants, which will deliver dinner at
intermission. Audience members will discuss
the issues raised by the play with members of the American Educational Research
Association conference who are in Philadelphia, including Sarah Reed Hobson,
SUNY Cortland University, K. Nicola Williams, Johns Hopkins University, and Audra
Slocum of West Virginia University.
"Goodbye to All That!" premiered as
part of the juried program of the 35th Annual Ethnography in
Education Forum of the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.
This performance is planned to complement the American Educational Research
Association’s 2014 Conference.
