Philadelphia Science Festival Astronomy Night in Chestnut Hill

Join Chestnut Hill College astronomy faculty Michael Atwell and Albert Lamperi on a tour of the cosmos on at one of 26 area Astronomy Nights on April 25th from 7:30 – 10:30 p.m. at John Story Jenks Elementary School playground in Chestnut Hill.

Astronomy Night is hosted by the Chestnut Hill Business Association in partnership with the Philadelphia Science Festival, a citywide collaboration that brings together nine exciting days, April 25-May 3, filled with events that showcase science and technology in everyday life. Atwell and Lamperi will guide participants in an evening of star watching, in addition to viewings of Jupiter, its 4 moons and Mars. Grab a blanket and some chairs as instructors show the locations of Castor and Pollux, the "head" stars of each of the twins in Gemini; Regulus, the brightest star in Leo; and Procyon, the brightest star in the small constellation Canis Minor. Up and down the Avenue, Chestnut Hill bakeries and restaurants will have specials and surprises for star gazers that evening.
