Philly Brewery Hit By Truck Responds In Best Way Possible

Urban Village Brewery in Northern Liberties is taking the unfortunate incident in stride it seems.

PHILADELPHIA – Urban Village Brewery on North 2nd Street was struck by a U-Haul truck Wednesday after a man drove the truck against traffic on the one-way street. As the brewery works to fix the facade's damage, it's moving forward with a good sense of humor.

Reddit user bigL162 shared a photo to the Philadelphia Reddit page showing Urban Village's temporary facade.

For the time being, beer drinkers and passersby will see a photo of the U-Haul "parked" inside the brewery after the accident.

According to police, a 41-year-old male was driving north on North 2nd Street, which is a one-way street that heads south.

The driver swerved into the entrance of the brewery, crashing into the business, police said.

In a YouTube video posted by the Philly Voice, the driver is seen running away from the crash holding his leg, but police said he was taken into custody for DUI after being taken to Hahnemann Hospital for left leg pain.

As of Thursday, police said the driver was still hospitalized.

The brewery's owner told the Voice no one inside the business was injured.
