130 Farm Animals Rescued In Bucks Co., Charges Pending: SPCA
The animals were kept in "extremely unsanitary" conditions without access to food, the Bucks County SPCA said.

PIPERSVILLE, PA — More than 130 farm animals were rescued Thursday from a property in Pipersville.
Humane police officers and staff from the Bucks County SPCA removed 52 goats, 80 chickens, and five turkeys that were being kept in extremely unsanitary and overcrowded conditions with inadequate access to food, according to information from the SPCA.
Charges are pending against the owner.

“Some of the goats appear to be underweight and show signs of external parasites. All of the animals were kept in small overcrowded enclosures. Manure pack was so deep in one area that the three goats standing on the pile were taller than my head,” BCSPCA Chief Humane Police Officer Nikki Thompson said. “The heat we’re experiencing exacerbates problems when conditions are this poor. Goats are ruminants and need to graze throughout the day. All animals need to have food and enough room to move freely.”
The SPCA transported the goats and poultry to the Bucks County SPCA’s Quakertown location, where each animal will be examined by a veterinarian and receive a daily supply of food and clean water.

“We have been readying our property to receive these animals,” BCSPCA Executive Director Linda Reider said. “Financial donations are needed to help support the considerable cost required of properly caring for so many animals, especially since we are still housing the majority of the cats from the Doylestown hoarder case in May. Donations to our Animal Relief Fund will be used to help all these animals recover until they can be placed for adoption.”
