2 Doylestown Intersections To Become More Pedestrian-Friendly
Doylestown Twp has received $171K in state grant funding to improve two intersections, including one where a teen was killed in 2015.

Doylestown Township has received more than $171,000 for a pedestrian safety project.
A $171,415 state grant will go to improve pedestrian facilities at the intersections of Easton Road and Turk Road, and Lower State Road and Wells Road.
The grant is part of $11.5 million in Automated Red Light Enforcement funding being distributed to 35 municipalities statewide to fund 41 safety projects, Penn DOT said.

“This program helps communities across the state make investments in traffic flow and safety,” Governor Wolf said. “These improvements complement the many road, bridge, and multimodal projects happening in Pennsylvania.”
In 2015, 14-year-old Steven Kim was killed crossing South Easton and Turk roads on his skateboard.

Projects approved for grant funding must improve safety, enhance mobility and reduce congestion, PennDOT said. Municipalities submitted more than 143 applications, totaling over $34 million in requests.
Projects were selected by an eight-member committee based on criteria such as benefits and effectiveness, cost, local and regional impact, and cost sharing, according to information from PennDOT.
