6 Fun Things To Do This Weekend In Bucks County

The first weekend in April is offering lots of fun things to do, from an Easter Treat Trail at Shady Brook to rock concerts in Newtown.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Easter weekend is hopping with things to do around Bucks County, from an "Easter Eggstravaganza" at Shady Brook Farm in Lower Makefield to an America 250 lecture on Molly Pitcher in Morrisville.

In addition to the many special brunches and egg hunts taking place throughout the county, this weekend is brimming with lots of other things to do with the family, including several art exhibits and two rock tribute band performances.

Easter Eggstravaganza at Shady Brook

Shady Brook Farm's Easter Eggstravaganza continues on Friday, April 3, Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kids and adults are invited to take an egg-citing journey through along an Easter Treat Trail. "Hippity hop your way around cute photo ops and find colorful eggs along the way. It's not just a hunt. It's an adventure," said the folks at the farm. Admission includes wagon ride, Easter Treat Trail, seven colorful eggs, treat bag, meet and greet with the Easter Bunny, cute photo ops, more than 25 field activities and live music on Friday and Saturday. The cost is $15 (online) and $20 (at the door) for children and $10 (online) and $15 (at the door) for adults.

Tribute Bands To Rock Newtown Theatre

The historic Newtown Theatre will present “A Tribute to Led Zeppelin” featuring the The Flying Circus tribute band on Friday, April 3 at 8 p.m. and “A Tribute to Bon Jovi” featuring Slippery When Wet NJ on Saturday, April 4 at 8 p.m. The Flying Circus is a four-piece Led Zeppelin tribute that recreates the sights and sounds of Led Zeppelin’s greatest hits. Raised on the same mean streets and reared in many of the same bars and nightclubs as Jon Bon Jovi and his band, Slippery When Wet NJ has spent the past 23 years bring the same electrifying energy, boundless enthusiasm, and unmistakable New Jersey attitude to the stage as Bon Jovi did in the height of his glory days.

Gallery Spotlights Geometric Abstraction

ArtWRKD Gallery in Newtown presents a free exhibition,"Grand Gestures," by artist Jim Hamilton. The show features two distinct bodies of work: early explorations and his current paintings in geometric abstraction. Rooted in a lifelong engagement with tradition, Hamilton’s perspective on art was shaped by a family background influenced by German Romanticism and British imperialism. The show is open April 3 to 26 at ArtWRKD, 126-128 South State Street, Newtown. An opening reception takes place April 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. and an artist dialogue is scheduled for April 12 from 1 to 2 p.m.

Summerseat Presents Molly Pitcher Lecture

In celebration of the nation's 250th birthday, Historic Summerseat at Hillcrest and Legion Avenues in Morrisville hosts a special lecture, "Over Here, Molly Pitcher: Stories of a Woman of the Army in the American Revolution” on Saturday, April 4, beginning at 2 p.m. The storytelling presentation is about Mary Hays McCauley, the plucky woman who assisted her husband and his artillery crew during the Battle of Monmouth, June 28, 1778. Blues Explosion Returns To Bucks

Get ready for an electrifying night of high-energy blues as the 10th Annual Bucks Blues Explosion returns to the Zlock Performing Arts Center on the campus of the Bucks County Community College, Newtown, on Friday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. Presented in partnership with the Bucks County Blues Society, the concert continues its tradition of bringing world-class blues talent to Bucks County. Known for her explosive stage presence and commanding voice, the evening features powerhouse singer Nikki Hill, who delivers a sound that blends soul, rock, and roots music into an unforgettable live experience. The evening kicks off with an opening set by Mike Guldin and Rollin’ & Tumblin’, setting the tone for a night filled with rhythm, grit, and unforgettable live music.

Focus On Fine Art Photography In Solebury

The 33rd Annual Phillips’ Mill Photographic Exhibition runs through Friday, April 17, featuring 150 works selected from over 1,000 submissions from across the U.S. The prestigious show spotlights fine art photography from the local region and beyond with a focus on “Photography as Art, Photographer as Artist.” The juried show fills the Mill, upstairs and down, with extraordinary examples of what the artist’s eyes, heart and soul, paired with photographic technologies old and new, can produce. Gallery hours are Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays, 1 to 7 p.m. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. A donation of $5 is requested. All works will be available for purchase, as well as tees and totes sporting the Mill Photo logo.
