All 3 Central Bucks High Schools Make New U.S. News Ranking

DOYLESTOWN, PA — All three Central Bucks School District high schools were ranked among the top 30 in the Philadelphia metro area in a new analysis by U.S. News.

The best high schools by metro area rankings, released on Wednesday, analyze how schools compare to each other in the same region. Central Bucks East was ranked 12th, Central Bucks West was ranked 16th, and South was ranked 30th in the Philadelphia metro area, which includes parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.

The highest-ranked high school in Bucks County in the newly released list was New Hope-Solebury, which came in 9th in the metro. Central Bucks High School East was second in the county, followed by West then South. Council Rock High School North was 5th in the county, coming in 35th in the metro.

The analysis of the Philadelphia metro area schools is separate from the publication's annual ranking of the best high schools in the country, which was published in April. In that ranking, Central Bucks East was ranked 12th in Pennsylvania, West was 24th, and South was 45th.

U.S. News says it used the same methodology to compile the metro-area rankings as it did for the national rankings. Metros areas were matched to their corresponding core-based statistical areas as defined by the government. The U.S. Census Bureau says metro areas and micropolitan areas (which have a population of between 10,000 and 50,000) are collectively referred to as core-based statistical areas.)

  • Central Bucks High School West, Doylestown (16)
  • Central Bucks High School South, Warrington (30)
  • Council Rock High School North, Newtown (35)
  • Council Rock High School South, Holland (53)
  • Pennsbury High School, Fairless Hills (55)
  • Neshaminy High School, Langhorne (62)
  • Palisades High School, Kintnersville (63)
  • Quakertown Community High School, Quakertown (69)
  • Pennridge High School, Perkasie (98)
