Aldie Foundation Names Gerald J. Birkelbach as Executive Director

The Board of Directors of the Aldie Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Gerald J. Birkelbach as the new Executive Director effective September 10, 2012.

Mr. Birkelbach brings over 20 years of human service and non-profit management experience to the position having most recently served as executive director of the Montgomery County Department of Economic & Workforce Development, the Industrial Development Authority, and the Development Corporation. In this capacity he managed a variety of programs and services to assist individuals with multiple barriers to self-sufficiency, including drug and alcohol addiction, to obtain employment. He also provided financing to numerous non-profit health care organizations.

Aldie Board President Thomas J. Smith, III, Esq., noted that “Jerry’s proven leadership abilities, business acumen, and compassion and caring for our client base make him an outstanding choice for this position. The Board is excited about the future of Aldie and will seek to achieve heightened standards of excellence in our programs and services”.

Aldie Board Search Committee Chairwoman Elaine Garvin stated “Mr. Birkelbach comes to Aldie with the full confidence of our board. We are excited to have Jerry navigate Aldie Counseling Center at this critical time in the treatment of addiction, recovery, funding and mission development."

A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University’s College of Health and Human Development with a Bachelor of Science degree, Mr. Birkelbach also holds a Master of Regional Planning degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and  has completed two executive education programs at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Aldie is the largest outpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility in Bucks County serving over 2,500 clients annually with over 80 employees located in lower and central Bucks County.  Aldie Counseling Center is a not-for-profit social service agency that benefits the community by enhancing the self-sufficiency of the people it serves through a broad spectrum of outpatient drug and alcohol treatment programs.
