DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A Barnes & Noble book store is coming to the Barn Plaza in Doylestown Township.

The national bookseller is leasing 11,365 square feet of space at the former location of the Marshall's and Home Goods store, confirmed Maria Pace, a spokesperson for Brixmor, which owns and manages the shopping center.

Marshall's and Home Goods relocated to the Cross Keys Place shopping center in Plumstead Township earlier this year leaving a vacant storefront in the heart of the shopping center, which fronts on busy Route 611.

The rest of the space is being leased by Whole Foods, which announced last fall that it would be opening a store in Doylestown at the Barn Plaza.

"Brixmor is committed to adding best-in-class retailers that meet the needs of the Doylestown community," said Pace. "We believe the addition of Barnes & Noble will not only attract a diverse customer base, create job opportunities, and increase foot traffic for existing tenants, but will also serve as a welcoming space, fostering community engagement and cultural enrichment."

The bookstore is scheduled to open sometime next fall. No word from Whole Foods on when its store might open.

This map taken from the Brixmor website shows the locations of the Whole Foods and Barnes & Noble stores.

This will be Barnes & Noble's third store in Bucks County. It also has locations in Falls Township and at the Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem.

The Plaza is also home to Kohl's Department Store, Douglas Jewelers, Piccolo Trattoria, Gerhard's Appliances, Mattress Firm, and others.

The 48,000-square-foot Barn Cinema, which closed earlier this year, remains vacant. But it has been the focus of behind-the-scenes discussions and a lot of speculation and rumors.

One source told Patch that it's probably going to be retail. "They have interest from some national businesses, but until they have leases with people they are not going to elaborate," the source said.

Pace didn't confirm or deny the rumors and speculation.

"We're expecting updates on the former movie theatre in the months ahead and look forward to sharing that information with you," she said.

"Currently, we are working with a dynamic group of national and regional retailers for the former Starbucks and Applebee’s sites and look forward to sharing retailer names once leases are finalized," said Pace.
