A candidate being seriously considered as the next Central Bucks Superintendent has reportedly already resigned from his current position.

Altoona Area Superintendent John Kopicki, who is a finalist for the Central Bucks position, announced his resignation Monday during a press conference, according to the Altoona Mirror. He told the publication he is resigning because he's likely to be named as superintendent of Central Bucks School District, the report said.

Kopicki is in his first year as superintendent at Altoona Area schools.

"Central Bucks could announce its new hire any day, Kopicki said," the report stated, noting that the candidate has "been in talks" with Central Bucks for a month.

Kopicki's announcement came the very day Central Bucks School District told the community it had merely invited the candidate to tour the district and participate in a public forum.

In an announcement to the community Monday, Central Bucks said the school board had decided to invite Kopicki to spend Monday, April 4 and Tuesday, April 5 touring Central Bucks schools and meeting with parents and employees.

A public forum is scheduled for April 5, and the community has been encouraged to submit questions at this designated website.
