'Code Blue' Issued Across Bucks County

Bucks County has issued a Code Blue declaration in anticipation of plummeting temperatures and winter weather this weekend.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Bucks County has issued a Code Blue declaration in anticipation of plummeting temperatures and significant snow and rain this weekend.

The declaration, the second made this month by the Bucks County Board of Commissioners in conjunction with the county Departments of Health and Emergency Management, is effective at 7 p.m. Saturday through 7 a.m. Wednesday.

During that time, three overnight shelters will be open for those in need of cold-weather housing.

The National Weather Service is predicting a stretch of cold weather during that period in which nighttime temperatures could reach single digits, wind chills will be dangerously cold, and prolonged snow and/or rain is expected Saturday into Sunday.

The available shelters for this time period are:

  • Lower Bucks: Woodside Church, 1667 Edgewood Road, Morrisville
  • Central Bucks: Trinity Episcopal Church, 2631 Durham Road (Route 413), Buckingham
  • Upper Bucks: Quakertown Masonic Lodge, 501 West Broad Street, Quakertown

On-call volunteers from each location will coordinate transportation, temporary shelter, food and other necessities, the county said.
