Discovery Channel Show Investigates Infamous Doan Gang Of Bucks County
In "Traitors' Treasure of 1776," Josh Gates follows the exploits of the Doan Gang in his latest episode of "Expedition Unknown."

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The latest episode of the Discovery Channel’s “Expedition Unknown” investigates Bucks County’s notorious Doan Gang, a group of loyalists who plundered the countryside and robbed the county treasury in Newtown during the American Revolution.
“Traitors' Treasure of 1776,” which originally aired on July 3, can be seen again on July 17 at 7 p.m. and at 12 p.m. on Sunday, July 28 on the Discovery Channel. It is also available to stream on Max and Discovery+.
"Expedition Unknown" chronicles the exploits of Josh Gates who investigates iconic unsolved events, lost cities, buried treasures and other puzzling stories.

Armed with a degree in archaeology, a quick wit and a thirst for action, Gates investigates recent developments before embarking on a detailed exploration. Whether he's trekking through Fiji in search of Amelia Earhart's remains or diving the deep seas of Panama to locate Captain Morgan's pirate ship, Gates' roughshod expeditions lead him one step closer to the truth.

During the latest episode, Gates chases the fortune stolen by loyalists to Britain’s crown during the American Revolution. Jumping into two investigations of the infamous Doan Gang, notorious for their exploits in recovering valuable treasures, he digs up a cache of plundered coins. Later, a cave search pinpoints the turncoats' hideout.
As the adventure unfolds, viewers are taken on a journey through time, exploring the challenges and triumphs of uncovering buried history.
The public can learn more about the Doan Gang at the Mercer Museum in Doylestown. A special exhibit, "The Doan Gang: Outlaws of the Revolution," continues through the end of the year.
Through the exhibit, museum visitors will discover the untold stories of the Doan Gang by journeying through a world of espionage, legendary robberies, and mythical lost treasure in the heart of Revolutionary Bucks County.
The exhibit explores how these local outlaws plotted, schemed, and plundered their way through a divided world in the earliest days of a budding American nation, and why their deep loyalty to British rule in the colonies made them enemies of the Founding Fathers.
