Donors And Community Leaders Step Forward To Cover Kin's Rent
Megan Tansue-Thorne and Family and Christina and Tyler Roy step forward to help nonprofit wellness organization "cover its rent."

BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — A fundraising project is underway in Bucks County to help the Kin Wellness and Support Center cover its rent. The nonprofit provides free services to cancer patients and their caregivers through the community's generous support.
The idea to fund Kin's rent for an entire year through partnership donations was the brainchild of Megan Transue-Thorne, whose late sister, Corinne Sikora, was the inspiration for the creation of the all-inclusive 5,000 square foot retreat offering support, fitness, therapy, and integrative services.
Sikora, a 23 year employee of the Central Bucks School District, battled both brain and breast cancer before losing her fight. One of her wishes was to have a place where cancer patients could go for support and services. Her dream became a reality in 2021 with the opening of the Kin Center.

For Corinne's birthday, Megan Transue-Thorne and family collected money to cover Kin’s rent for a month via a social media campaign.
“It’s been two years since we lost this beauty," wrote Megan Transue-Thorne in her social media posting about Corinne. "She was one of the kindest people who never hesitated to help someone. One of her wishes was to have a place for cancer patients to go for support, therapy, and integrative services to help them during treatment and recovery. That vision is now a reality. We thought the best way to honor her is to 'Cover Our Rent' for Kin.”

The board members of the Christina and Tyler Roy Foundation, which is comprised of the couple’s family members, added their support, covering a second month. “We are beyond proud and humbled to be able to support Kin. We are so grateful to be help support this (Corinne’s) beautiful legacy.”
The birthday challenge quickly became a more ambitious campaign to cover the nonprofit's rent for an entire year.
"The amazing program will realize its true success when all 12 months in 2023 are assigned to donors and supporters," said Keith Fenimore, Kin's executive director who has picked up the ball and is pushing it forward. "Kin is off to a good start, as we eagerly turn to the community to identify 10 remaining partnerships to cover rent for one month."

“As we begin our second year in operation, we are caring for nearly 250 cancer patients and caregivers across Bucks County," said Fenimore. "The support generated by the ‘Cover Our Rent’ program really amplifies the continued love and support we have gotten from our community. We are so fortunate to have built such a beautiful facility in Kin that caters to the very community who helped build it. As a 100 percent donation funded non-profit, this rent program directly impacts us in a positive way and relieves a great deal of our non-profit's monthly financial burden,” shares Fenimore.
The center is free to Bucks County residents battling cancer regardless of where they are receiving treatment and welcomes caregivers as well. Free programs include nutrition, yoga, fitness, one-on-one counseling, support groups, workshops, massage, reflexology, reiki, chiropractic, acupuncture, and facials.
Kin is a unique center that looks to satisfy the emotional, social and physical needs of cancer patients. The success of Kin is made possible through generous donations from the local Bucks County community. Kin’s mission is to help people find calm and peace and center themselves in a restorative environment. The non-profit strives to bring people to a place where they feel empowered to manage their diagnoses through treatment, recovery and beyond.
