NORRISTOWN, PA — A woman was high on fentanyl when she was driving and struck and killed a Montgomery County woman over a year ago, the District Attorney's Office announced on Friday.

Kaitlyn Dilemmo, 32, of Doylestown, has been charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and related counts.

The incident occurred back on June 6, 2022 on Cheltenham Avenue and North 5th Street in Cheltenham.

It was around 11:30 p.m. when Dilemmo, in her Toyota Rav4, approached the intersection at high speeds, police said. There was a red light, but instead of stopping, she swung across the left hand turn lane, crossed over a concrete median and into the opposite direction of traffic, and slammed into another car, according to the DA.

The force of the impact trapped the victim, Jacqueline Kovach, 77, of Philadelphia in her vehicle. First responders extracted her and took her to Einstein Medical Center, where she stayed in critical condition until she died on Aug. 18.

Dilemmo, meanwhile, was ejected into the roadway, and was transported to Abington Jefferson Hospital. Police said nurses found seven baggies of fentanyl stamped with the phrase "Fly High," along with four empty baggies.

Dilemmo's urine sample tested positive for fentanyl.

She was released on $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 25.
