Doylestown Health Gets $1M Grant For New Vascular Care Center
Doylestown Health has received a $1 million state grant for the construction of a state-of-the-art Center for Heart and Vascular Care.

Doylestown Health has received a $1 million state grant for the construction of a state-of-the-art Center for Heart and Vascular Care currently under construction. The grant was secured with the support and assistance of Rep. Marguerite Quinn and Sen. Chuck McIlhinney, the hospital says.
The grant through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is provided to awardees that demonstrate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues or other measures of economic activity.
The $42 million project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2019. The top steel beam for the 100,000-square-foot renovation and expansion will be placed next week, and the floors and walls of the new structure will be the next phase of construction.

“The support of Gov. Wolf, Rep. Quinn and Sen. McIlhinney is a tremendous boost to the transformative renovation and expansion of our Center for Heart and Vascular Care,” said Jim Brexler, President and CEO of Doylestown Health. “They join a growing list of community, Board and staff donors and supporters that recognize the need for enhanced cardiac, cardiothoracic and vascular services, and the contribution Doylestown Health makes to the economic vitality of the region.”
According to information from the hospital, construction activity is supporting 252 jobs and an additional 209 indirect and induced jobs that already exist within the commonwealth’s economy. Within five years of construction, the Center for Heart and Vascular Care will create 35 permanent positions for Registered Nurses, Vascular Ultrasound Techs and Respiratory Therapists, the hospital said.

“This $1 million grant is great news, not only to Doylestown Hospital, which will help it expand and enhance its clinical heart and vascular medicine services, but also to hundreds of families and individuals who are in need of superior cardiac and vascular care closer to home,” said Rep. Quinn. “I am pleased, especially as we watch the steel being erected to complete this phase of Doylestown Health’s vision, that an investment of this size is being made in our hospital. This type of project not only enhances health care but created good, family-sustaining jobs.”
The Center for Heart and Vascular Care is essentially "a hospital within a hospital" with expanded patient treatment areas, private cardiac intensive care and patient rooms, new and upgraded equipment and technology, and enhancements for patient and family support, according to Doylestown Health.
The new Center for Heart and Vascular Care is a key element in the $75 million One Vision campaign, a comprehensive investment program by Doylestown Health, which includes a new and expanded community center at Pine Run Retirement Community, expansion of the surgical suites at Doylestown Hospital and construction of an outpatient pavilion on the hospital campus.
“The Center for Heart and Vascular Care provides life-saving treatment to many local patients, and this grant will allow Doylestown Hospital to do even more to support the health of surrounding communities,” Sen. McIlhinney said. “In addition to creating jobs, the renovation and expansion project will also enhance excellent outcomes for patients who need specialized care.”
A new main entrance and community education center is planned by 2023.
