Doylestown Named 'Top Hospital' By Watchdog Organization
It is one of 45 general hospitals in the country to earn the recognition, and just one of four in Pennsylvania.

Doylestown Hospital has been named a "Top Hospital," by the nonprofit watchdog organization Leapfrog. It is one of 45 general hospitals in the country to earn the recognition for 2017, and just one of four in Pennsylvania.
It's the second consecutive year Doylestown Hospital has received the designation.
Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in qualifying for the award, including outcomes for serious conditions such as heart attacks and stroke, infection rates, maternity care, and staffing. Click here to view Leapfrog's Top Hospital Methodology.

"The Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive. It is especially notable because The Leapfrog Group, an independent watchdog organization, considers quality measures that are significant to both purchasers and consumers of health care," Doylestown Hospital said in an announcement.
Doylestown Hospital also recently received an “A” grade in patient safety from Leapfrog, which assesses hospital safety twice a year.

“The outstanding associates, volunteers and medical staff at Doylestown Hospital and Doylestown Health are engaged in continuous quality improvement and patient safety initiatives to ensure that our community-based, non-profit health system remains relevant and indispensible to those we have the privilege to serve,” said Jim Brexler, president and CEO. “National recognition of our hospital and clinical services are welcome affirmations, however, the high quality of care we deliver to patients and their families through teamwork and professionalism is the true measure of quality at Doylestown Health.”
According to Scott Levy, MD, chief medical officer of Doylestown Health, this most recent national honor comes at a transformational time for the health system.
“As we prepare to begin our second century of compassionate caring and introduce new and expanded healthcare services, the Leapfrog designation validates the clinical integration efforts of Doylestown Health to encourage wellness and respond to the challenges of illness,” Dr. Levy said.
The selection of Top Hospitals 2017 is based on surveys from nearly 1,900 hospitals.
