Doylestown Native Headed To UPenn Earns Scholarship from Dunkin Donuts

Dunkin Donuts has awarded a total of $50,000 in scholarships to students around the region, including one in Bucks County.

Dunkin Donuts has awarded a total of $50,000 in scholarship money to 25 local students.

Students were selected for their academic record, demonstrated leadership, and commitment to both their school and community, according to a press release.

Each recipient will receive a $2,000 scholarship to pursue a full-time undergraduate degree at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the Fall of 2016.

“On behalf of Dunkin’ Donuts and the franchisees in the Greater Philadelphia Region, I would like to congratulate the 25 recipients of the 2016 Dunkin’ Donuts Philadelphia Regional Scholarship Program,” said Perry Shah, Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee and chairman of the Dunkin’ Donuts Advertising Committee for the Greater Philadelphia market. “Seven years ago, this program was created to help support the regional communities we are proud to serve. We wish these young men and women success as they continue in their academic careers.”

The winners were selected from thousands of applicants, the company said. Scholarship of America, a national manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs, administered the competition.

The Bucks County recipient is listed below:

Somil Govani – Pipersville, PA High School: Central Bucks High School West | Doylestown, PA
University: University of Pennsylvania | Computer Science major (Class of 2020)

  • Somil Govani is a Pipersville, PA resident and recent graduate (valedictorian) of Central Bucks West. In addition to volunteering at local hospitals, Somil always had a ‘major interest’ in science research, where he developed Artificial Intelligence that lead him to win first place at multiple science fairs throughout the region. This fall, Somil plans to attend The University of Pennsylvania where he will major in Computer Science.
