Doylestown Police Targeting Aggressive Drivers In Month-Long Crackdown

Police from Doylestown and Warrington townships are teaming up over the next several weeks to target aggressive drivers. And officers will show offending drivers little mercy.

Police say drivers violating the laws will receive citations. "No warnings, unless you count this post as your warning," police said via Facebook.

The special detail will last until April 30, police said.

Speeding and other aggressive driving behaviors are among the leading causes of highway crashes and fatalities in Pennsylvania, according to PennDOT.

Here are some signs of aggressive driving:

  • Excessive speed
  • Tailgating
  • Racing to beat red lights or running stop signs
  • Weaving in and out of traffic
  • Passing illegally on the right
  • Failing to yield to the right of way to oncoming cars

PennDOT says if you encounter an aggressive driver, get out of their way and don't challenge them. "Stay relaxed, avoid eye contact and ignore rude gestures."
