Doylestown Township Preliminary Budget Contains Tax Increase

Residents could see a 1 mill tax hike in 2017.

Doylestown Township release the 2017 preliminary budget, and it contains a small tax increase according to budget documents.

The township's real estate millage rate for the general fund will bump from 5.75 mills to 7 mills. While the general fun is going up, the millage rate for the township's debt service is dropping from 1.75 mills to 1.50 mills.

The overall millage rate has gone from 10.875 in 2016 to a proposed 11.875 in 2017.

The 2017 preliminary budget contains $25,263,424 in expected revenue, $25,929,926 in expenses expected, and $5,405,780 in the township's fund balance.

The largest sources of income and expenses are bond proceeds with $10 million (42 percent of revenues) and capitol projects with $9.9 million (46 percent of expenses), respectively.

Final adoption for the 2017 budget is slated for Tuesday, Dec. 20, according to the township.
