Evening Fall Tours To Explore Landmark Bucks County Castle

DOYLESTOWN, PA – Fonthill Castle will open for evening tours throughout October, November, and December. Operated by the Bucks County Historical Society (BCHS), the landmark castle was the home of Henry Mercer and an early example of reinforced concrete architecture.

Guests are invited to take in the splendor of Fonthill Castle during guided tours exploring Henry Mercer’s home and showplace during intimate 45-minute guided historic tours of the castle’s unique rooms and artifacts. Fonthill Castle features 44 rooms, over 200 windows and 18 fireplaces.

The castle’s interior features Mercer’s renowned, handcrafted ceramic tiles designed at the height of the Arts and Crafts movement.

Dates for this season’s Fonthill Castle Evening Tours are October 25, October 26, November 29,

November 30, December 7, December 14, December 20, December 21, December 27, and
December 28, 2023.

“Fonthill Castle is a National Historic Landmark site and a true cultural gem in the heart of Bucks
County. It is a pleasure to present special experiences that highlight its architectural features
and hidden characteristics. Our Evening Tours are widely regarded as one of the best ways to
explore the castle and see it in a new light," said Marjan Shirzad, Chief Operating Officer at the
Mercer Museum & Fonthill Castle.

Tour times vary for these special tours. Tickets for October Evening Tours are available at
mercermuseum.org/fonthillcastleeveningtours. Tickets for special Holiday Evening Tours,
featuring the castle decked out for the holidays with uniquely decorated trees throughout the
route, are available at mercermuseum.org/holidays.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for BCHS member adults, $10 for youth (ages 6-17), and $5 for
children (ages 5 and under).

Fonthill Castle is a unique historic site and has limited accessibility with steep stairs and narrow,
uneven passages throughout the interior of the site.
