Historic Bucks Co. Covered Bridge Closed Due To Truck Damage
A historic Bucks County covered bridge has been closed after it was damaged by a truck Tuesday night, police said.

TINICUM, PA — A historic Bucks County covered bridge has been closed after it was damaged by a truck Tuesday night, police said.
Tinicum Township Police said officers were called at about 9 p.m. for a report of a truck that had hit the Frankenfield Covered Bridge, which is located at Hollow Horn and Cafferty roads in Tinicum. The driver stayed at the scene, police said.
The impact caused structural damage to the bridge, police said. As a result, it will be closed until further notice.

Police are asking residents to avoid the intersection for the time being. Updates will be provided when a reopening is near.
The Frankenfield Covered Bridge was built in 1872 and crosses the Tinicum Creek. According to Visit Bucks County, at 130 feet, it is one of the longest covered bridges in the county.

This isn't the first time a truck has caused significant damage to one of Bucks County's treasured covered bridges. In 2017, the Loux Covered Bridge was closed due to truck damage.
