Historic Bucks Co. Covered Bridge Reopens After Repairs
A historic Bucks County covered bridge that has been closed for a month has reopened after repairs.

TINICUM, PA — A historic Bucks County covered bridge that has been closed for a month has reopened after repairs.
The Frankenfield Covered Bridge closed in early June after it was damaged by a truck. It reopened after the county completed repairs Monday.
Tinicum Township officers were called to the scene June 4 for a report that a truck that had hit the bridge, which is located at Hollow Horn and Cafferty roads in Tinicum.

The impact caused structural damage to the bridge and so it was closed immediately.
The driver stayed at the scene, police said. It is not clear if citations were issued in connection with the incident.

The Frankenfield Covered Bridge was built in 1872 and crosses the Tinicum Creek. According to Visit Bucks County, at 130 feet, it is one of the longest covered bridges in the county.
This isn't the first time a truck has caused significant damage to one of Bucks County's treasured covered bridges. In 2017, the Loux Covered Bridge was closed due to truck damage.
