Historical Home Tour - James-Lorah Memorial Home

Built in the early 1800’s this Federal-style home is the headquarters of the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown. The 17-room residence, its contents and a trust fund for maintenance were bequeathed to the organization in 1954 by Sarah M. James, a charter member of the VIA. The James-Lorah Memorial Home is a treasured house-museum commemorating the families who have occupied it.The home is maintained to reflect its Victorian heritage and visitors will view original furnishing, lighting and decorative artifacts that exemplify life during this period.
Join us and meet the author of our book” A Treasured Legacy” and celebrate Sarah James, our benefactor’s 150th birthday. Refreshments will be available. JLMH items including note cards, prints etc. will be available for purchase.
Today, the Federal-style building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
