Need A New Career? Free Metalwork Program Offered At BCCC
The job-placement rate of past graduates is over 92 percent, the college said.

Bucks County Community College will be offering a free metalwork training program for those who are unemployed or underemployed. The training program is being conducted to meet employer demand for skilled workers, the college said.
The training will focus on metal fabrication fundamentals, and it begins Monday November 5 at the college’s Advanced Manufacturing Training Center in Bristol. The 12-week training program consists of four days a week in class, and one day a week off-site for company tours.
The training is free for those who qualify though PACareerLink. Those who complete the program receive individual job-placement assistance, BCCC said in an announcement.

Prospective students must attend one of two mandatory information sessions. There will be sessions on Sept. 18 and Sept. 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. Both sessions will be held at the Epstein Campus at Lower Bucks, located at 1304 Veterans Highway, Bristol.
"The program introduces students to the fundamental concepts and hands-on skills required in manufacturing and a variety of industries. Students will receive a certificate of completion, plus a NIMS, OSHA10 and Forklift Safety Training certification," BCCC said in an announcement.

Representatives of local companies looking to hire skilled workers will be on hand to answer questions and help select candidates for the program.
According to the college, the ideal candidate is someone who likes to work with their hands, problem-solve and is looking to start a new career. Efforts will be made to connect those who successfully complete the program with local employers. The job-placement rate of past graduates is over 92 percent, the college said.
Requirements for the program include:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or possess a Green Card
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must pass an aptitude test, drug screening, background check, and a physical test
- Must have reliable transportation to commute to training and to a variety of industry field trips
