Road Work Continues for Route 202 Parkway

Construction of the new $200 million Route 202 Parkway will result in travel restrictions this week, June 25-29, in Montgomery and Bucks counties, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said recently.
 
Construction continues to widen the intersection of Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) and Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Montgomery, Lower Gwynedd and Upper Gwynedd townships. This operation has temporarily eliminated left turn lanes at the intersection. Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel through this area.
 
The installation of new traffic signal components and guide rail will result in periodic, short-term lane closures on Monday through Friday (June 25-29) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at signalized intersections and other locations along Route 202 and Route 309. Motorists may find these periodic travel restrictions at the following locations:
 

• Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) from north of the Five Points intersection to Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Montgomery and Lower Gwynedd townships;
• Route 202 (Doylestown Road/Butler Avenue) from the Five Points intersection to Pebble Hill Road in Montgomery, New Britain and Doylestown townships; and
• Route 611 Bypass from the Turk Road underpass to Limekiln Road in Doylestown Township.

Area motorists should anticipate delays and add extra time for travel through the construction areas. All planned activities are contingent on the weather.

The 8.4-mile-long Parkway, scheduled to open this fall, will improve travel and ease congestion along the Route 202 Corridor between Montgomeryville and Doylestown.
